Your Wedding Begins Long Before You Walk Down the Aisle (Part 3)
When most people imagine getting ready on their wedding morning, they picture matching pajamas, champagne, hair and makeup, and a room full of excitement.
And yes...
Those moments are beautiful.
But as a wedding planner, I see something different.
I see the beginning of your wedding story.
Long before the ceremony.
Long before the music starts.
Long before anyone walks down the aisle.
The moment you walk into your getting-ready suite...
Baby...
It's time to get started.
That's why one of the first things I do is visit with my bride before she walks into the room.
Because once those doors open, everything begins moving.
Hair starts.
Makeup begins.
The photographer starts capturing details.
The videographer begins telling your story.
Family starts arriving.
The excitement builds.
So before all of that happens...
I want one quiet moment.
Just us.
One deep breath.
One smile.
One reminder.
Today, you get to marry the love of your life.
Every Bride Needs a Different Morning
One thing I've learned over the years is this:
No two brides need the same atmosphere.
Some brides want music playing before the sun comes up.
Others want prayer.
Some want laughter filling the room.
Others want quiet conversations with their mom.
Some want champagne.
Some want coffee.
Some want both.
Our job isn't to create the wedding morning we would want.
Our job is to create the wedding morning that feels like you.
Because that's where your story begins.
What Story Are We Telling?
The moment your photographer and cinematographer arrive...
The story has already started.
That's why I often ask couples,
"What story are we telling?"
Because those first photographs aren't just documenting hair and makeup.
They're documenting anticipation.
Excitement.
Family.
Friendship.
Joy.
Those are the photographs you'll still be looking at decades from now.
And sometimes...
Those photographs become priceless.
I remember one bride who told me she didn't really care about getting-ready photos.
She preferred a more documentary style and didn't want to spend a lot of time posing.
We honored that.
We kept everything natural.
Simple.
Authentic.
One of the photographs captured that morning was of her and her grandmother together.
Not posed.
Not planned.
Just present.
It became the last special event they shared before her grandmother passed away.
Today, those photographs mean more to her than she could have ever imagined.
That's why I always encourage couples to take a few photographs.
You never know which ones will become your favorites.
The Details Matter
One of the very first things I ask for when the photographer arrives is all of the wedding details.
The dress.
The shoes.
The jewelry.
The perfume.
The invitation suite.
The bouquet.
The veil.
Everything.
Why?
Because once everyone starts getting dressed...
Those items disappear.
By photographing them first, we've already protected those memories.
Then, when the photographer moves to the groom's suite, we simply hand him his details and keep everything moving.
No searching.
No stress.
No asking,
"Has anyone seen the cufflinks?"
We've already taken care of it.
Content Creators Are Part of the Team
Content creators have become one of my favorite additions to weddings.
Notice I said content creators.
Not photographers.
Not videographers.
They're different.
And each one has a different role.
That's why I like introducing everyone before the wedding day.
We actually have separate conversations about how everyone works.
Who takes priority during certain moments?
How do we avoid blocking each other's shots?
How do we respect one another's craft?
Because the goal isn't to compete.
It's to work together.
When everyone understands their role, the wedding day flows beautifully.
My Favorite Wedding Moment Isn't the Ceremony
Don't get me wrong.
I love a beautiful ceremony.
But if you ask me what I'm a sucker for...
Private vows.
Every single time.
There's something incredibly special about creating a quiet space where it's just the couple.
Maybe me.
The photographer.
The videographer.
No audience.
No pressure.
Just two people talking to each other.
I also love first looks.
Not because they're trendy.
Because they create time.
They calm nerves.
They improve the timeline.
And honestly...
Our couples who choose private vows or a first look often choose a second outfit for the ceremony, and I absolutely love seeing them express different parts of their personality throughout the day.
The Morning Belongs to Him, Too
One thing that's always been important to me is making sure the groom feels just as celebrated.
His morning shouldn't simply be waiting around until it's time to leave.
It should feel intentional.
Breakfast with his closest friends.
His favorite music playing.
Coffee exactly how he likes it.
Maybe golf.
Maybe video games.
Maybe sitting quietly on a porch.
Maybe reading a letter from his future wife.
Whatever reflects him.
His photographer captures his relationships, not just his cufflinks.
His memories matter too.
One of the greatest gifts we can give a groom is letting him stay present.
No answering vendor calls.
No worrying about transportation.
No searching for forgotten items.
Just enjoying the experience.
Because this is his wedding day too.
You Don't Have to Be Superwoman
One thing I see brides do all the time...
They try to carry everything.
The emotions.
The schedule.
Their family.
Their bridal party.
The vendors.
Baby...
Put it down.
You don't have to be Superwoman today.
You've already done the planning.
Today is about living it.
You have time.
Trust the team you've hired.
Laugh.
Cry.
Dance.
Hug your mama.
Take a deep breath.
This day will never happen again.
Don't spend it worrying about what's next.
It Shapes Everything
The getting-ready room isn't just where you put on a dress or button a jacket.
It's where the excitement begins.
It's where generations come together.
It's where happy tears fall.
It's where laughter echoes through the room.
It's where your wedding transforms from months of planning into a day you'll remember forever.
And that's why we believe it deserves just as much intention as the ceremony itself.
Because every unforgettable wedding begins with an unforgettable morning.
